SENSABLE is an advanced mechatronics system, designed and constructed by the contributions of many scientists and technicians, coming from different disciplines such as Mechanics, Electronics, Control Systems, Robotics and Software Technology.
It consists of a desktop mechanism of articulate arms with integrated touch and displacement sensors. This mechanism is tested and worked in real time with a powerful simulation software of solid geometry.
The user of the above system begins to create and literally "touch digital material" that forms from scratch, just as a creator (sculptor, silversmiths, blacksmith, cabinet maker, hanging etc.) formats and feels with various specialized hand tools any material he chooses (eg marble, wood, metal, plastic, etc.) to create the desired form.
With SENSABLE instead of natural source materials, which is often formed without rollback in case of error, we have digital source material, for example a "digital marble" which we modify and if we are wrong, we negate everything without any significant cost or delay.
The main difference between SENSABLE and other forming solid geometry software systems (CAD - SOLID MODELLING), is the fact that while other softwares require by user to have significant knowledge and familiarity in the handling of basic geometric elements (eg Surfaces NURBS, SOLID PRIMITIVES) describing the three-dimensional geometry. In the case of SENSABLE user is working literally free as a sculptor.
SENSABLE has emerged as an unprecedented technological innovation that will change the way we design objects and products by PC. This technology is already used in many fields such as Sculpture, Architecture, Engineering, Medical, Silverwork, Cinema etc. and the results are spectacular. Below are given some examples.
